The Gallery Nomad: where art meets cannabis, now in Dumbo too
New York has no shortage of dispensaries. The Gallery set out to build something closer to a neighborhood art space that happens to sell cannabis. Its first shop sits on Sixth Avenue in NoMad, a short walk from the Empire State Building and Madison Square Park, and it now has a second location on Washington Street in Dumbo, Brooklyn.
Built to bring people together
The idea behind The Gallery started with community. Instead of a grab-and-go counter, the founders wanted a room where people slow down, look around, meet each other and stay a while. The shops are designed as cultural spaces first, with the product as part of the experience rather than the whole point.
The art comes first
The walls are the headline. Both stores show rotating work from New York artists and creatives, and a new artist is featured every month, mixing emerging names with established ones. For local artists, that means a steady, public place to show work; for visitors, it means the shop looks different each time you walk in. The tagline says it simply: where art meets cannabis.
